چکیده

This paper presents a geometric method for parameterization, matching, and analysis of surface shapes. Surfaces are parameterized and represented by intrinsic coordinate maps derived from the conformal structure of the shape. This parameterization is invariant to rigid transformations of the shape, as well as angle-preserving parameterizations of the surface. Shape matching between coordinate maps of two surfaces is achieved by i) deforming the isothermal curves of the intrinsic parameterization under a nonlinear transformation, and ii) locally reparameterizing the isothermal curves to yield invariant diffeomorphic matchings. Experimental results are shown in synthetic data as well as neuroanatomical shapes such as the hippocampus and the cortex.

A Volumetric Conformal Mapping Approach for Clustering White Matter Fibers in the Brain

The human brain may be considered as a genus-0 shape, topologically equivalent to a sphere. Various methods have been used in the past to transform the brain surface to that of a sphere using harmonic energy minimization methods used for cortical surface matching. However, very few methods have studied volumetric parameterization of the brain using a spherical embedding. Volumetric parameteriza...

3D Non-rigid Surface Matching and Registration Based on Holomorphic Differentials

3D surface matching is fundamental for shape registration, deformable 3D non-rigid tracking, recognition and classification. In this paper we describe a novel approach for generating an efficient and optimal combined matching from multiple boundary-constrained conformal parameterizations for multiply connected domains (i.e., genus zero open surface with multiple boundaries), which always come f...

An Intrinsic Coordinate System for Fingerprint Matching

In this paper, an intrinsic coordinate system is proposed for fingerprints. First the fingerprint is partitioned in regular regions, which are regions that contain no singular points. In each regular region, the intrinsic coordinate system is defined by the directional field. When using the intrinsic coordinates instead of pixel coordinates, minutiae are defined with respect to their position i...

Intrinsic Parameterizations of Surface Meshes

Parameterization of discrete surfaces is a fundamental and widely-used operation in graphics, required, for instance, for texture mapping or remeshing. As 3D data becomes more and more detailed, there is an increased need for fast and robust techniques to automatically compute least-distorted parameterizations of large meshes. In this paper, we present new theoretical and practical results on t...
